CCC Learning Clinic

The Learning Clinic is designed to compliment your school program with theoretical and practical experience through our weekly trainings and Depth-Oriented case consultations. You will also receive individual or group supervision based on your schools requirements.

All ability to engage in activities listed below are based on the intern’s level of skill, knowledge, and interest, with client care as our top priority. Participation also depends on client availability and internship requirements set by Oregon law and university policies. Below is a list of activities that our recent graduates have engaged in

Micro level social work:

  • Carry a caseload of individual or relational direct practice clients through the various stages of

  • treatment while maintaining ethical and professional behavior.

  • Use supervision and case consultation to understand the individual differences of our clients,

  • reflect on our reactions and the transference and countertransference as it plays out in the

  • treatment room, and the systemic issues that impact the clients functioning and mental

  • wellness.

  • Co-facilitate a group from intake to closing session.

  • Case-management and resource linking for existing clients or those who do not qualify for

  • therapy services from CCC.

  • Initial assessment of callers to determine level of care and appropriateness for CCC services

  • based on client’s trauma, suicide, and substance history.

Three Levels of Social Work Practice Experience.

Mezzo level social work:

  • Shadow groups with a shared identify. For example, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren or Men’s group.

  • Identify changes in demographics of CCC’s clientele and develop resource lists and educational information to better meet their needs.

  • Understand the barriers to services for uninsured and underinsured and identify resources to increase access.

Macro Level Social Work:

  • Research through qualitative and quantitative means to understand the effectiveness of our services and areas for growth.

  • Attend Lane County Public Health collaborative meetings to gain deeper understanding of services in the community and service gaps.

  • Review Federal and State policies that impact client’s access to resources including mental health services.

  • Engagement in funding and programmatic discussions and activities to understand internal and external policies and how they affect our service delivery and how to adapt to continue to provide services to our community.
